Boar Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA) Supervision
With professional guidance and oversight provided by a great Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to individuals, we assist in working towards certification in applied behavior analysis (ABA) or those aiming to maintain their certification.
Components of BCBA Supervision
Supervisee Requirements: BCBA supervision primarily involves individuals in the process of becoming certified as Board Certified Behavior Analysts, commonly referred to as “supervisees.” These individuals must meet specific criteria set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to be eligible for supervision. This includes completing the necessary coursework in behavior analysis, possessing a relevant graduate degree, and meeting specific experience requirements as outlined by the BACB. Additionally, supervisees are required to pass the BCBA certification exam, which assesses their knowledge and application of behavior analytic principles and practices. This rigorous examination is a crucial step in the certification process and serves as a benchmark for ensuring that individuals entering the field as BCBAs possess a high level of competence and proficiency in behavior analysis.
Structured Supervision Hours: The Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) mandates a specific number of supervised fieldwork hours for individuals pursuing BCBA certification. This includes a minimum of 1,500 hours of supervised independent fieldwork, or 2,000 hours if following a non-verified course sequence.
Supervision Meetings: Regular meetings between the BCBA and the supervisee are held to review progress, offer feedback, discuss cases, and ensure the supervisee is acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge.
Ethical and Professional Guidance: The BCBA provides guidance on ethical considerations and professional conduct within the field of applied behavior analysis.
Documentation and Record-keeping: Both the BCBA and the supervisee maintain records of supervision hours, activities, and progress. This documentation is crucial for certification purposes and may be subject to review by the BACB.
Supervision Agreement: Prior to the commencement of supervision, a formal agreement is typically established between the BCBA and the supervisee. This agreement outlines the terms and expectations of the supervisory relationship.
By adhering to these requirements and actively participating in the supervision process, supervisees position themselves for success in achieving BCBA certification and ultimately making meaningful contributions to the field of applied behavior analysis.
